What’s the weather like during winter in Araucanía?

From July to September, Araucanía has cold temperatures, with snow at higher elevations and rain in the valleys. Expect daytime temperatures between -5°C and 5°C (23°F to 41°F). Dressing in layers for snow activities is key. We’ll send you a full packing list before your trip.

Can I join if I’m not an expert skier?

Absolutely. This trip combines both resort skiing and optional activities like hiking, hot springs, or sightseeing. As long as you're comfortable on intermediate ski runs, you'll enjoy the experience. Non-skiers can also join and focus on nature, wellness, and local culture.

At its heart is Malalcahuello, a charming mountain village in the Malalcahuello National Reserve. In winter, it becomes a hub for skiing and ski touring, with Corralco Resort offering groomed slopes on Lonquimay Volcano and vast terrain for backcountry exploration.

Day 1 :

Arrival in Temuco, Gateway to the Chilean Andes

Begin your winter adventure in southern Chile. Arrive at Temuco Airport and head to the mountains, where snow-covered volcanoes and native forests await.

Day 2 :

First Ski Day in Corralco + Culinary Experience

Begin your day skiing at Corralco Ski Center on the slopes of Lonquimay Volcano, which offers a range of runs for all skill levels. In the evening, savor a special culinary experience to complete your day.

Day 3 :

Backcountry Skiing or Resort Riding in Malalcahuello

Explore off-piste terrain with ski touring opportunities in the Malalcahuello National Reserve or enjoy another day on the groomed runs of Corralco.

Day 4 :

Optional Adventure: Volcano Summit or Relaxation

Choose your activity: summit a volcano with a certified guide, hike through the Andean national parks, unwind in natural hot springs, or continue skiing.

Day 5 :

Morning Ski & Scenic Transfer to Pucón

Enjoy one last ski session in Lonquimay before a scenic drive to Pucón, Chile’s adventure capital, nestled between Villarrica Volcano and Lake Villarrica.

Day 6 :

Skiing Villarrica Volcano (Pillán Ski Resort)

Ski on an active volcano! The newly renovated Pillán Ski Resort offers incredible views and access to a variety of runs for all skill levels.

Day 7 :

Explore Pucón: Hot Springs, Hiking, or Skydiving

Enjoy a free day in Pucón in winter: hike in Villarrica National Park, soak in thermal springs, ski more, or even go skydiving over the Andes.

Day 08 :

Departure Day

Wrap up your Chile ski trip with memories of volcanoes, powder, and natural wonders. Transfer back to the airport for your journey home.
