Cerro Castillo and Coyhaique

You’ll arrive at Balmaceda Airport, where our team will greet you and transfer you to Coyhaique, the regional capital and your base for the first night. In the evening, we’ll have a relaxed welcome meeting to review the plan for the days ahead and answer any questions.

We kick off the trip with an exciting rafting experience on one of the nearby rivers, where you’ll enjoy both the thrill of the rapids and stunning Patagonian scenery. Afterward, there will be time to prepare your gear, repack for the trek, and enjoy a good rest before the expedition begins.

After an early breakfast, we drive to Las Horquetas, the trailhead to Cerro Castillo National Park. From here, we begin our hike through forested valleys and along pristine rivers, gradually ascending until we reach El Turbio Campsite, our first night in the mountains.

Today we ascend into the high alpine landscape, crossing a rugged mountain pass that rewards us with incredible views. We pass by the majestic Anfiteatro Lagoon before descending to El Bosque Campsite, surrounded by native forest.

We tackle one of the most challenging and scenic sections of the trail: the El Castillo Pass. After soaking in the dramatic views of Cerro Castillo’s spires and glaciers, we descend to Porteadores Campsite for our final night in the park.

On our last trekking day, we hike to the spectacular Laguna Duff, a turquoise glacial lake tucked into the mountains. After completing the circuit, we exit the park and return to Coyhaique for a well-earned celebration dinner with the group.

After breakfast, we’ll arrange your transfer back to Balmaceda Airport in time for your departure flight. End of services.
