Peru Through a Traveler's Eyes: The Lares Trek to Machu Picchu

Over seven unforgettable days in Peru, our group explored the heart of the Andes — hiking the Lares Trek, camping under the stars, wandering Cusco's vibrant streets and visiting the legendary Machu Picchu. We asked Andy to tell us about it.

What was your favorite moment?

*"Summiting Silla Q'asa with the group. It was more strenuous than I expected — a true physical challenge. The views throughout the hike were breathtaking, and reaching the summit made it even better."*

How were the Lares Trek and camping?

Both were amazing. The professionalism and coordination of the local guides made the whole trek flawless. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to see the true, untouched beauty of Peru — an underestimated hike that surprised all of us.

What did you think of Machu Picchu and Cusco?

As one of the seven wonders of the world, Machu Picchu didn't disappoint — and neither did Cusco and the surrounding towns. We saw more than we expected and couldn't get enough of Peru.

How would you describe the DYT team and guides?
